The Earth Federation Forces was lagging behind the Zeon forces in deploying mobile suits to the battlefield as well as in their numbers. To catch up, the RGM-79 GM, which was greatly simplified from the RX-78 type machine, was adopted and successfully produced then deployed en masse in a short period of time.

However, the combat capabilities of a single GM was inferior to Zeon's mobile suits, and requests for improvements came from skilled pilots. The RGM-79SC is a comprehensive performance enhancement type suit of the GM, with specifications comparable to that of RX-78 type machines. Its backpack was equipped with large thrusters and mobility was enhanced with leg sub-thrusters. It was called "Sniper Custom" because it was equipped with a long range beam rifle.

Gunpla from The Origin MSD, HGTO 1/144 GM Sniper Custom (with Missile Launcher) kits will reshipping in June 2021. The Bandai premium gunpla will be priced at JPY 2,530.
The characteristic armament "Missile Launcher" is reproduced with new modeling parts. The connection shaft part is movable, and the mount position can be adjusted. R-4 type beam rifle and facial expression flat parts are also included. In addition, for the thigh parts, special parts that will be new runners are prepared according to the color scheme reproduction in MSD.
